Trained in journalism at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Telecommunications, Tom began his professional writing career in 1997 as a writer, covering the local sports scene at Sweat Magazine, an Arizona health and fitness publication. In 1999, Tom accepted an editor position with Business Wire, an international newswire serving the business community through the use of press releases, multimedia, photos and regulatory filings. In 2002, he advanced to newsroom supervisor, where he managed all aspects of newsroom operations, including a four-person staff and a yearly press release tally of more than 4,000. With the launch of Write Way Solutions in October 2001, Tom set out to fill a void in the small business marketplace by offering professional freelance writing and editing services to companies lacking the resources of a full-time expert.
